Default Paragon Rear Dropouts: Round vs Snap Ring

Is there any practical difference between the Paragon round dropouts + the snap ring dropouts in terms of fabrication technique, etc? And, for TIG, are builders working in steel using heatsinks on these (I assume there is an emphatic yes for stainless + TI).

    Thanks!

IMO, the snap ring dropouts are a superior design. Compared the regular round DOs, the snap ring DOs are smaller, lighter, have a better method of holding the hanger in place, and the axle center is concentric with the outside of the body.

I can't imagine needing a heatsink for either DO. They're plenty thick. But I'm a fillet brazer so don't take my word for it.
