TJ's has the best price on Barbara's Morning Oat Crunch.

Aside from that? It's alright. A strange mix of products and far from a fully stocked grocer.

My wife and I have fond memories of a trip to California a few years ago. We lived off of TJ's sea salt almond butter and dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

I can occasionally find some TJ's products in Aldi (parent company) here but Germans don't have a strong affinity for nut butters so I can never find the good stuff mentioned above.

The most adult thing I've done in the past couple of years is tagging on a trip to Trader Joe's whenever I go on vacation. Sadly they haven't made their way up to Alaska yet. I usually go for the dry goods (their snacks are super cheap) and spices...and chocolate. I fiend for that sea salt dark chocolate they have.

Florida grocers leave a lot to be desired. Makes me miss my years in DC and Virginia.

I’m lucky, I have two within walking distance. Lots of good quality stuff in appropriately sized sale quantity packaging. One thing stands out for me is the fresh made pizza dough. It’s NY style not Neapolitan. I made my own NY style dough for years. TJs dough is $1.19 per bag and every bit as good as my homemade dough. They also have great pepperoni. Big pluses are the TJ crew is fun and super friendly, AND they take ApplePay.

It is a good shop no doubt. Funny place, they don't have more than one of everything and everything is really good.
Since the decline of Whole PayCheck T.J's have been a go to.

That's what will drive me crazy about my local supermarket when I'm looking for a fairly common ingredient. An example is something like a 28oz can of peeled plum tomatoes. None... but 8 different brands of diced times 4 spice combinations.

Divine sign to go to Cappiello's deli but that gets expensive with the impulse buys.

Trader Joe's will stock three options for a certain product, at least two are good quality. I agree with the above. Don't need 22 peanut butter options. Their house brand wine is good as well. They will buy a label's extra wine and sell it under the TJ's label. The wine guy at the local store couldn't verify, but suspected the same wine was on the shelf in different bottles, one a well known wine maker, and the other a TJ bottle. Cost difference about $10-15.

I could eat a whole bag of the chili lime cashews in a sitting.

The chocolate coconut almonds are dangerous - dare you to eat just one.

Should America Be Run by … Trader Joe’s? (Ep. 359) - Freakonomics Freakonomics

Funny, Freakonomics posted a podcast on Trader Joe's this week. They must have a cyclist in the podcast crew scouring Vsalon for interesting topics.

I did not know Trader Joe's was owned by ALDI. They do a great job explaining choice and what is happening here.

I was just about to post that link. They mention that there are actually 2 separate Aldis. The brothers split the chain when one wanted to sell cigarettes and the other didn't.

We don't have a Trader Joe's that local to us, nearest is about 50 miles away in IA City. We shop at Aldi's most of the time and they have some good wine and beer selections, and also some good specialty items and seasonal stuff. As i understand it 2 Brothers own both companies and in Europe they are called Aldis north and Aldis south.
